Beats by Dre Beatbox I thought it might be a good option for me

I recently decided to treat myself to a new iPod dock. In the past I’ve had cheaper dock systems (around the £40-£50 mark), but this time I wanted one that would deliver excellent sound quality & be capable of high volumes without distortion. I had heard good things about the beats by Dr Dre headphone range, but I don’t really listen to music on headphones enough to warrant the price tag. So when I saw the Beats by Dr Dre Beatbox I thought it might be a good option for me.

The Beats by Dr Dre Beatbox has a cool minimal, yet solid design and feel. The dock is located on the top left next to the power button, with the rubber volume knob on the top right corner.

There’s a convenient carrying handle built into the top of the tour beats and when you pick it up you’ll notice it’s fairly heavy. There’s an AUX input in the back so you can connect to other devices, which I’ve found particularly useful for connecting to my laptop to play my spotify playlists.

I think it’s fair to say the Monster Beats is probably the loudest iPod dock for its size. It really does deliver great quality sound at really high volumes and it fills a large room very well. It comes with a setup guide with recommendations for room placement. Basically if you put the Beatbox in the corner of a room the walls will reflect the sound and amplify it.

There are a couple of minor bad points. I found the remote to have a slightly cheaper feel compared to the speaker dock. Also, there’s a port on the back for a wireless module (not yet released, and no suggested price or release date) to connect to computers & other devices. It’s a shame that this couldn’t have been integrated into the unit when the Beatbox launched as it would have been a great feature.

Overall I’m really happy with the Beatbox. At £350 it is quite an expensive purchase beats by dre , but it delivers top quality sound & looks good. I’m sure I will get plenty of use out of it and I will look forward to the wireless module being released.
